How the calculator works

How is the membership estimate calculated?

We add up the seats across your fleet (a single scull is 1, a coxed four is 5, an OC6 is 6, and so on), multiply by how many outings each boat runs per week, apply a utilisation factor for boats not always being full or out, then divide by how often a typical member gets on the water. The result is the number of members your boats can realistically sustain.

How accurate is it?

It is a planning estimate, not a guarantee — real demand depends on session times, weather, coaching and member commitment. Adjust the outings-per-boat, utilisation and sessions-per-member figures to match how your club actually runs and the number updates instantly.

Does it work for canoe clubs?

Yes. The calculator uses the boat classes specific to canoe clubs, each with its correct seat count, so the capacity reflects your real fleet rather than a generic average.

Is the tool really free?

Completely free, with no sign-up or card. It is built by Your Boathouse — booking, fleet and on-water safety software for clubs — but you can use the calculator on its own as often as you like.
